Amy Schumer and Bill Hader’s new film Trainwreck failed to knock Marvel’s latest comic book creation off the top of the box office on a muted weekend at the cinema.
Ant Man took $3.228m on 527 screens over the weekend to swell its takings to $10.121m over two weeks, while Trainwreck, which follows a commitment-phobic career woman as she starts a relationship, got $1.373m on 236 screens.
A one-off concert from musical great Andre Rieu which was shown on selected screens was the third highest grossing event of the weekend taking an impressive $1.268m on 99 screens.
It moved in above Magic Mike XXL which managed $1.16m on 341 screens taking it to $10.7m, ahead of Paper towns which got $3.5m on 245 screens.

The second highest new entry was Ian McKellen’s portrayal of Sherlock in the film Mr Holmes which was tenth on $502,000 on 83 screens.
Aussie flick Ruben Guthrie, about an adman’s battle with alcoholism, continued its limited release taking $55,000 on 33 screens taking it to $312,000 so far.
