Anthony De Ceglie promoted at The West Australian Newspapers

Senior editor of Seven West Media’s Western Australian newspapers, Anthony De Ceglie, has been promoted to become editor in chief.

De Ceglie has been in the role for a year, moving across from The Daily Telegraph in January 2019.

De Ceglie is now Seven’s WA editor in chief

He was brought in to the business to reinvigorate its editorial department and integrate the Community Newspaper Group and Regional Newspapers, as well as launch the digital subscription arm of the business.

SWM chairman Kerry Stokes said De Ceglie’s work has been integral to the strength of the WA business.

“I am incredibly grateful for the hard work and dedication from Anthony this year, having initiated a lot of change both with his team and across our print and digital products,” said Stokes.

“Anthony has proven he understands our audience and has made his mark by instilling a discipline that ensures our products are the best they can be, every single day, for our readers.”

De Ceglie thanked the business for its support.

“I’m so appreciative for the opportunity to lead The West Australian, The Sunday Times, Perth Now and our 19 regional and 12 community newspapers.

“2019 has been a big year that has seen the West Australian Newspapers do everything from hold the first-ever federal election leaders’ debate in WA, to the successful launch of digital subscriptions on thewest.com.au. I’m confident that 2020 will be even bigger and we’re primed to capitalise on what has been a year of transformation and integration,” he said.

De Ceglie’s promotion is effective immediately.
