Antoinette Lattouf and Azure Antoinette launch new podcast

Media personalities Antoinette Lattouf and Azure Antoinette have joined forces to launch a new podcast, appropriately titled ‘The Antoinettes’, via DM Podcasts.

The podcast sees the Australian journalist, Lattouf, and American poet, Antoinette, sit down together and tackle the world’s biggest, and smallest, problems.

With one uncommon name, but two very different lives, the duo’s new venture will navigate their friendship and ‘prickly’ topics, with plenty of laughs, perspectives and new ideas.

“Antoinette Lattouf, with her journalistic prowess, and Azure Antoinette, with her poetic eloquence, create a captivating dynamic. Their conversations are a testament to their unique bond – a bond that allows them to disagree, debate, and learn from each other, all while sharing a laugh,” said Antony Stockdale, founder of DM Podcasts.

Lattouf said: “At first I was just thrilled to meet someone who shared the same 10 letter name as me because our name hasn’t been popular since 1880.

“But then I quickly learnt that Azure Antoinette also manages to find ways to laugh while discussing some of the most harrowing issues of our time. And crucially, she can seamlessly pivot from serious talking points to discussing Gwenyth Paltrow and Goop,” she added.

“What I love about The Antoinettes is that it’s a space for being candid, current and comical. Partnering with DM was a no-brainer because of their passion for entertaining and unique content.”

Released weekly on Thursdays, the duo stressed that “no issue is off the table” for the new podcast.

“We want to show people how to disagree. I mean we do it so well, you should read our text message trails,” Antoinette said.

“They’re wild, hilarious and sometimes heated but always in good faith. Antoinette and I learn a lot from each other and we can’t wait for audiences to follow suit.

“Sadly we will never run out of content, of issues big and small to cover. It really is a shit show out there, and we are totally here for it. Here to unpack it,” she added.

Antoinette, who has advised global corporations including Johnson & Johnson on their DE&I efforts, spoke in a global keynote at Mumbrella360 last year, stressing the need for brands to “tell the truth” in their diversity efforts.

The new podcast will further her points of DE&I, as well as pop culture, politics and everything in between.

The news comes as Lattouf’s unlawful termination case against her former employer, the ABC, continues, after she alleged she was unfairly sacked from her temporary role hosting the public broadcaster’s Sydney Mornings radio program in December last year.

Earlier this week, Lattouf’s lawyer Josh Bornstein, placed an application with the Fair Work Commission requesting the ABC to produce a range of documents created between December 15 and December 23 that regard communications made about Lattouf by between the following:

“(a) David Anderson and any other person;
(b) Ita Buttrose and any other person;
(c) a leading barrister who agitated for M Latouff’s dismissal and any ABC employee;
(d) employees of the Respondent and a journalist of The Australian newspaper.”

The request for the documents follows reports that a member of a lobby group that pressured the ABC to sack Lattouf was advised by ABC chair Ita Buttrose that Lattouf no longer worked at the ABC on 20 December 2023.

In the time since Lattouf first launched her unfair dismissal case, the ABC has since claimed that Lattouf’s employment was not ended before the expiration of her contract on 22 December 2023.

Lattouf and Bornstein last month expanded the journalist’s Fair Work Complaint against the ABC, alleging that her untimely removal from a summer radio gig was motivated in part by her ethnicity.
