Snail mail banking features in new ANZ ad

ANZ has launched a new ad campaign that encourages its customers to opt for online statements as an easier way to do banking.

The ad, developed by marketing agency Cubed, lists a number of common problems associated with paper statements, such as weather and animal damage, before providing a step-by-step guide to electing online statements on the bank’s website.

Senior manager of communications strategy for ANZ, Kirsty Tucker, told Mumbrella the option made it easier for customers to switch paper statements off.

“We know our customers are tired of dealing with paper statements, but they also need to know that they are safely stored in one place and accessible anytime, anywhere. So we have filed our customers’ statements in ANZ Internet Banking, with improved search and view capability, and handy reminders that signal when a statement is available for viewing.”

She said she was pleased with the campaign, adding: “Both the ANZ and Cubed teams had a lot of fun building a physical demonstration of what happens to some paper statements when the local snail population gets hungry. Note that no snails were harmed in the making of this video, in fact they were very well fed.”

The ad will run across ANZ’s website and will be supported through branch, social and direct marketing.

In September online bill-paying service BPAY launched a “human letterbox” ad personifying the letterbox, and making him redundant.
