APDG awards shortlist announced

The Australian Production Design Guild has announced its shortlist for this years awards for excellence in stage and screen design.

The announcement:

The Australian Production Design Guild in association with Docklands Studios Melbourne is delighted to announce the nominees for the 2012 Awards for Excellence in Stage and Screen Design

The Australian Production Design Guild’s 2012 Awards for Excellence in Stage and Screen Design will be held on Wednesday 17th October 2012 at Parkview Room, Doltone House Darling Island Wharf from 6.30pm, where the winners across 16 categories will be announced.

“The number of entries was impressive” announced George Liddle, Chair of the APDG Board. With so many quality entrants this year it was difficult for the judges to make a decision.

The APDG Awards is an annual event first held in 2011. It gathers together a myriad of talents and associated production design professionals from the Australian film, television, stage and interactive multimedia industries to celebrate the art of visually captivating audiences the world over.

This year, The APDG is delighted to announce Docklands Studios Melbourne (DSM) as the principal sponsor of the 2012 APDG Awards. This is a fitting partnership because studio facilities offer designers a unique environment to realise their vision. DSM CEO Rod Allan said, “It is a natural fit for DSM to be the principal sponsor of the APDG Awards. Our primary goal is to foster an environment where programme-makers can do their best work.”

With the APDG focussing on developing the network of production designers not just in Sydney, but now Melbourne, this is a great opportunity to link together and support respective industries.

The Australian Production Design Guild was established in 2009 as a non-profit organisation committed to:

  • Raising the profile of stage and screen design.
  • Highlighting the creative contribution made by the mise en scène.
  • Drawing attention to professional standards.
  • Encouraging young designers and associated professionals in the industry.
  • Recognising excellence and outstanding achievements through annual awards.
