APG awards get record number of entries

The APG creative strategy awards have received a record number of entries for this years event.

The announcement:

APG today announced a record number of entries for this year’s APG Creative Strategy Awards, more than double that of the most recent APG awards in 2008.

The Awards recognise and celebrate innovative thinking in both brand (message) planning and channel/media planning. Special awards include best insight, best approach to research, best use of data, best non-advertising idea and best under 50k budget.

“We’re really delighted with the breadth of entries we’ve received from media and creative shops as well as specialist digital, direct and planning agencies. The thinking is innovative and varied showing the diversity of approaches and techniques agencies are taking to create fresh creative work. The awards play an important role in putting new strategic thinking on the public record, adding to the knowledge base of the communications industry”, said Jeremy Nicholas, Chairman of the APG.

“The awards are about proving the link between strategic thinking and great creative but are also an opportunity to highlight the role planning plays in delivering effective messages in a creative and relevant way. The judges will have a big job to do judging these cases, which should make for a good night on the 25th of November” said Jon Steel, Chairman of Judges.

The entries are currently being judged by Stage 1 judges with finalists announced within the week, followed by a second round to decide the winners.

The Award night is planned for 6.30pm, on Thursday 25 November.

The Creative Strategy Awards Call for Entry was launched with the help of the team from Host, designing the “What is it that Planners and Strategists actually do?” campaign.

The awards are proudly sponsored by Sandy Oldham Consulting, BWM, BMF, Inspire Foundation, DDB, The Seed, Red Spider and Digital Edge.
