ARN becomes exclusive Australian sales representative for IHeartPodcast network

Australian Radio Network (ARN) has become the exclusive sales representation for the IHeartRadio podcast network in Australia.

The agreement will see ARN become the entry point for all brands looking to target Australian downloads of IHeartPodcast original titles, including Stuff You Should Know and Disgraceland.

ARN will now be the exclusive Australian sales partner of the IHeartPodcast network

The IHeartPodcast network has over 3.5m downloads in Australia each month, with its shows available on all major podcast platforms, including the IHeartRadio Australia app which distributes ARN’s locally-produced podcast offering.

ARN chief commercial officer, Peter Whitehead, said the agreement further cements ARN’s expansive audio offering.

“With our ongoing investment in IHeartRadio Australia, ARN is the only audio company that is able to bring together radio, music and podcasts all in one place, delivering Australian audiences the most comprehensive broadcast and on-demand audio offering in the country.

“The addition of the IHeartPodcast Network catalogue further cements our commercial leadership in the audio category and creates an unrivalled opportunity for advertisers to amplify their campaigns using ‘broadcast to podcast’ strategies, powered by enhanced data and targeting capabilities,” said Whitehead.

ARN operates the Australian version of IHeartRadio – a free radio and music streaming app which was launched originally in the US and landed in Australia in 2013. The app can be used with phone, PC and smart speakers, claiming over 1.5m registered Australian users and more than 850,000 users each month.

Earlier this year, ARN announced the extension of its IHeartRadio licence until 2036, following the emergence from bankruptcy of the US-based IHeartMedia.

ARN parent company Here, There and Everywhere (HT&E) has made it clear that it wants to focus more on its audio offering in 2020 and solidify what it believes to be a market-leading position in the space.
