ARN promotes Derek Bargwanna to newly-created role of head of KIIS

ARN has today promoted Derek ‘DB’ Bargwanna to the newly-created role of head of KIIS Network, effective from 1 July.

Currently head of content for KIIS Sydney and Melbourne, the new role will see DB expand his remit across the KIIS Network to include KIIS 97.3 in Brisbane and Mix 102.3 in Adelaide.

Reporting to ARN’s chief content officer Duncan Campbell, DB will execute the content strategy for each station and have responsibility for the ratings performance across the KIIS network. The restructure will see the content directors from each of these stations report to DB.

Duncan Campbell said of the promotion: “DB’s track record speaks for itself. He is, without doubt, one of the best content directors in the country, and KIIS 1065 is one of the best contemporary hit radio stations in the world.

“This newly created role is part of ARN’s continued focus on making sure we have the right people and processes in place to ensure the ongoing success of the network nationally.”

Bargwanna said of his appointment: “ARN’s Metro Radio Network is such a powerhouse, thanks to the on-air and off-air teams around the country, and I look forward to taking on greater responsibility across the KIIS Network to continue to build on the success we’re currently enjoying.”

Since joining ARN in 2014 DB has been integral to the success of KIIS, helping KIIS 1065 become the #1 Station in Sydney, while Kyle & Jackie O recently celebrated their 27th consecutive survey as the #1FM Breakfast show.

In March, ARN announced that its biggest KIIS and PURE GOLD Network shows are now broadcast nationwide as the market-leading programs are syndicated across the country via ARN’s owned and repped regional stations.

The familiar faces (and voices) of KIIS Network’s Kyle & Jackie O and Will & Woody along with PURE GOLD’s Jonesy & Amanda and Christian O’Connell will expand their reach and listenership.
