ARN’s Jono and Dano latest show to broadcast from Royal wedding

Australian Radio Network’s The Jono and Dano Show is the latest program to announce it will broadcast from the UK in the lead-up to the Royal wedding.

The announcement:

April 4, 2011 –

Australia’s much loved radio duo and all round good guys, Jono & Dano, are thrilled to take their show to the streets of London in the lead up to the Royal Wedding and are gearing up to judge the finalists in the Twinings Australian Afternoon Tea competition.

They’ll be setting up their studio at the original Twining Tea Shop at 216 The Strand inLondon, to broadcast The Jono & Dano Show live around Australia from April 27 to 29. And whilst they may not have landed an official invitation to the wedding of HRH Prince William and Miss Kate Middleton, the boys say, “Since the Royal Family have appointed Twining for their Tea and Stephen Twining has appointed us for this visit to pick the Aussie blend, we reckon this is a good enough tenuous connection for us to get a front row seat at the nuptials and all the action around it”.

Jono & Dano host the Drive shift every weekday on the Australian Radio Network’s Classic Hits Network of WS.FM Sydney, 4KQ Brisbane and GOLD FM Melbourne plus 25 regional stations around the country. In the lead up to the Royal Wedding Jono and Dano will be in London interviewing some of the world’s biggest stars over a cup of Twinings Tea and sharing all the excitement around the big day with their listeners back home.

Ian ‘Dano’ Rogerson says, “The last thing we expected was to be there on the big day…it’s probably the last thing the Royal Family expected too. The British Empire has been through enough already, this may be the straw that breaks the countess’ back”.

During the trip Jono & Dano will be joined by tenth generation member of the famed tea legacy, Stephen H.B Twining, and will have the honour of choosing the top five blends from all the celebrity entries in the Twinings Australian Afternoon Tea competition including submissions from Kevin Rudd, Kristy Hinze, John Williamson, Mike Munro, Layne Beachley, Peter Morrissey, Charlie Brown, Kerri-Anne Kennerly, Leo Sayer and Diesel. These five finalist blends will then be made available for the public to taste, who will then cast their vote for the definitive blend for the country.

For Jonathan ‘Jono’ Coleman, it’s a welcome return to London where he spent 16 incredible years as a key media identity, hosting the breakfast radio show “Jono and Harriet” on Heart 106.2FM (with more than 2.5 million listeners per week), “Russ and Jono Brekkie Show” on Virgin Radio (with more than 3.8 million listeners per week), and Breakfast on London’s BBC radio 94.9FM. Dano says, “It should also be noted that I once did 2 months of weekend morning shifts at Waikura Community Radio”.

Tune into The Jono & Dano Show from 4pm, Monday to Friday, on WSFM and GOLD FM and from 5pm on 4KQ. Visit The Jono & Dano Show on Facebook for broadcast details in regional areas and to follow the boys as they take London by storm.
