As Upfront approaches, Seven West Media CMO Charlotte Valente to leave at end of the year

Three years after being appointed as Seven West Media’s first-ever chief marketing officer, Charlotte Valente will exit the company in pursuit of other challenges.

According to reports from the AFR, staff were advised of Valente’s departure recently, ahead of Channel Seven’s upfronts next week.

Seven West Media chief executive James Warburton announced the exit in an email sent out to staff on Friday, noting that Valente would remain with the company until the end of the year, once the “search for her successor is well advanced”.

“Under Charlie’s direction, the rigour, quality, quantity and effectiveness of our paid, owned and earned communication has improved significantly, helping make Seven one of the best performing and fastest growing media and entertainment brands in Australia, leading to Seven being named Australia’s fastest growing brand of 2021,” said Warburton.

Valente said: “It’s been a momentous three and a bit years which I am hugely proud of; we have transformed our brand and business and achieved some extraordinary results. I want to thank James, my fellow executives and the board for their trust, collaboration and support and extend that gratitude to my incredible team, who believed in a vision and executed beautifully. I am leaving the company in its strongest ever position and look forward to witnessing the growth still to come.”

Valente’s departure comes just two weeks after Seven West Media announced that chief people and culture officer Katie McGrath would be stepping down from her role after five years with the company, effective as of December this year.

Valente was hired by Warburton as part of the Seven restructure under the then newly appointed CEO in 2019. The pair had previously worked together at APN Outdoor, prior to the JCDecaux merger.
