Ash London to depart the Hit Network after 5 years

Former 2Day FM breakfast host and long-time presenter of Hit Network national nights, Ash London, is departing Southern Cross Austereo (SCA) ahead of the birth of her first child.

London has hosted her Australian-music focussed program Ash London Live on-and-off for the past five years, and also had a stint on 2Day FM breakfast alongside Grant Denyer and Ed Kavalee.

She replaced Em Rusciano on the struggling breakfast program at the back end of 2018, before continuing on throughout most of 2019. But London is best known for Ash London Live, where she helped dozens of Aussie artists get their first commercial radio airplay.

Tom and Olly, who currently host late nights across the Hit Network, will fill in for London for the remainder of 2021.

London announced the news to her listeners on Monday night, revealing she won’t be returning after her forthcoming maternity leave.

“As you guys know I am 32 weeks pregnant… In three weeks I will be going on maternity leave to have this baby. But after five years of doing this show I will not be returning next year to Ash London Live.

“We’ve got three weeks left, I can’t believe it. I wish we were in the same studio together…

“I started this show in October of 2016 with the dream of having a music show that wasn’t about gossip, wasn’t about celebrity BS, but really just to champion music and play great Australian music every night, and we’ve done that.”

Mumbrella understands SCA will look to announce a full-time replacement for London later this year.
