Ashley Earnshaw becomes Vizeum CEO as MD Stephen Deane departs

Dentsu Aegis Network’s third string media agency Vizeum Australia has appointed Ashley Earnshaw as CEO in one of the biggest moves since Henry Tajer took the helm of DAN at the start of the year.

The move follows the departure of Vizeum managing director, Stephen Deane, who has become chief marketing officer at real estate company Harcourts.

Earnshaw moves within the group from Amplifi, where he served as chief investment officer until DAN’s media investment arm was scaled back and largely folded back into the group’s media agencies. The other DAN agencies are Dentsu X and Carat.

Earnshaw begins in the role next month

Adrian Roeling, Amplifi’s president, was made redundant as part of a broader DAN restructure in May, before news broke that Amplifi itself would be reintegrated into DAN media agencies.

“Ash is a highly-skilled media professional. He has a great depth of experience across multiple categories, working with many blue-chip advertisers across his career,” said Tajer.

“We are looking forward to seeing Ash leading Vizeum into its next phase of growth.”

Before joining Amplifi, Earnshaw was at DAN stablemate Carat, where he was head of investment before a promotion to chief investment officer. He held various roles at Mediacom from 2008 to 2015.

“I’m incredibly excited to be joining the Vizeum business at such a significant time for DAN,” Earnshaw said.

“I look forward to supporting the team and to drive deeper integration within the network, whilst evolving our offering to further accelerate our clients’ growth. It’s a fascinating time in the industry, with an accelerated pace of change and navigating this for clients represents a superb opportunity.”

DAN’s media agencies have had a tumultuous 12 months. Dentsu X recently lost the Australia Post account, while Carat has lost Super Retail GroupVirgin AustraliaAsahiMondelēz InternationalAmart, and Bega.

Henry Tajer was named CEO of the network in January.

Vizeum’s clients include MYOB, AGL, BMW, Sodastream, eBay, Expedia, Air New Zealand and Accor.

Earnshaw starts in the new role on August 1.
