Atomic 212 hosts soccer tournament for cancer research

Atomic 212 this afternoon hosted a soccer tournament in support of cancer research.

The announcement:

In an effort to raise funds for cancer research at the up-coming ‘Ride to Conquer Cancer’ event held in Sydney on October 1, Media agency Atomic 212° is hosting their inaugural charity football tournament for media companies at the KVG Recreation Centre.

While cancer research is at the heart of the matter, the 5-a-side futsal tournament is a fun way for media players and host agency Atomic 212°to raise both, awareness and much needed funds for cancer research.

The Charity Soccer Tournament is by no means a cup of champions, but more an event for industry players to collaborate outside of the office so to speak. With media teams from NewsCorp, ARN, MCN, Seven, Fairfax, icumulus and Adroll all ready to verse each other as well as threeAtomic 212° teams, they are ultimately all raising funds for cancer lured by a dash of prizes. Although, there may well be a slight competitive edge to the games, insiders say.

Kicking off at the King George V Rec Centre from 3pm on Thursday the 1st October, the tournament will also be accompanied by a raffle boasting prices such as subscriptions, books, beach towels, movie and dining vouchers and more, plus a helicopter flight over Sydney Harbour (donated by ATN) as the main prize.

For those that play soccer better from the sidelines than on the pitch, there is a way to support the cause, the raffle. The winning team will be celebrated and raffle tickets drawn at the official whetting at the Australian Pub in the Rocks after the final whistle has been blown, from 6pm ‘til late.

Atomic 212° General Manager Claire Fenner spoke highly of the strong support provided by the participating media companies, both on and off the court.

“We are very pleased with the level of participation from everyone in our inaugural soccer tournament and feel confident it will grow into an annual event. It is great to see everyone come together in support of such an important cause.”

“I am especially thankful for all the prize donations and to the many teams that have registered. It shows us all that there is more to life than just business and that we all work together for a common goal,” Fenner said.

“Thanks to all of the media for participating and clients like MCA and Hurley, who have contributed prizes. Particular thanks go to Dick Smith who are the major sponsor of the Atomic 212° ‘Ride to Conquer Cancer’ team.”

Atomic 212°has already registered a team for the ‘Ride to Conquer Cancer’ and is encouraging everyone to partake in the effort to raise much needed funds for cancer research.
