Audi releases four-hour slow TV road trip to help people escape
Audi has offered house-bound Australians a view of the open road with a four-hour slow TV film, from a new A6 Sedan.
The Drive was recorded two weeks ago, following the government advice on social distancing for the time. A crew of four people shot the film, with two in each car.
It is the first work from We Are Social since it was appointed to Audi’s social media account in January.
The film was shot in the NSW Central Tablelands by director Luke Bouchier from Finch, using multiple cameras to replicate the experience of driving the car.
Edu Pou, executive creative director at We Are Social, said: “Not only has our partnership with production house Finch been fantastic, but the passion from the team at Audi has been key to driving this project forward. Literally – our client Sean is the one behind the wheel in this film.”
The film was scored by John Hassell, from his studio where he is self-isolating in Marseille, France.
Chief customer and marketing officer at Audi Australia, Nikki Warburton, said the brand wanted to bring the sense of a road trip to Australians.
“During this difficult time for many of us, Audi wanted to create an innovative way of bringing the iconic Australian road-trip to people in their homes,” Warburton said.
“‘The Drive’ is a digital concept that allows customers to experience the pleasure of the open road from the confines of their home, and to hopefully offer Australians some tranquillity and mental wellbeing during these uncertain and unsettling times.”
The film is streaming on Facebook and YouTube. It will remain on the platforms after the livestream ends.

I think this idea was probably proposed at every agency with a car brand over the last few weeks. Such an easy win.
Props to Audi for having the courage to go out and shoot it.
