Aus Gov drops $100m in JobKeeper payments for ASX-listed media and marketing companies

The Australian Government has shelled out $101 million to ASX-list media, advertising and marketing companies in the past financial year as part of its JobKeeper scheme.

Companies listed on the ASX are required to disclose the full amount of JobKeeper received in the past two financial years on the ASX under changes to the the Corporations Act via The Treasury Laws Amendment (2021 Measures No. 2) Act 2021


According to the new rules, a company must give a JobKeeper notice to its market operator within 60 days of 14 September 2021, which is today.

While some companies have chosen to repay elements of the funds received, others have not. A full breakdown of the JobKeeper payments for ASX-listed entities in the industry is below.

Domain Holding Group: The Nine Entertainment Co majority-owned entity received $6,511,500 in JobKeeper payments in the 2021 financial year. The payments were in support of 639 staff at the organisation. The company is set to repay the full amount

Enero Group: The owners of agencies such as BMF, Hotwire and Orchard received $1,201,500 in JobKeeper payments in financial year 2021.

The payments were for 102 staff. The company is not repaying any of the funds received.

IVE Group: The integrated marketing, production and distribution company IVE Group received $22,866,000 in JobKeeper payments in the 2021 financial year for 1,577 staff. The company has not returned any of the funds.

Nine Entertainment Co: During financial year 2021 the company received $8,248,200 in JobKeeper payments, for 784 staff.

The company has since made a voluntary repayment of $7,844,700.

Pureprofile: Global data and insights and media business, Pureprofile, received $364,500 in JobKeeper payments in financial year 2021, for a total of 37 staff.

The company has not refunded any of the funds.

Prime Media Group: The regional media company set to be absorbed by Seven West Media received $4,399,500 in JobKeeper payments in financial year 2021, for a total of 327 staff. It has not repaid the funds.

REA Group: The real estate platform majority owned by News Corp received just $131,400 in JobKeeper payments in financial year 2021, for six staff.

The company has since repaid the full amount to the government.

Seven West Media: During financial year 2021 the national company received $25.7 million in the first quarter of the year as part of the first phase of the program. It has not repaid any of the funds.

Southern Cross Austereo: The national radio network received $31,570,200 in JobKeeper payments in financial year 2021, for a total of 1,749 staff.

The company is not repaying any of the payments received.
