Australia agencies submit 1,186 entries for Cannes
More than a thousand Australian entries are in contention for glory at the Cannes Lions in just over a fortnight’s time: 1,186 entries – out of a total of 28,828 – came from Australian agencies, the sixth largest number.
US agencies submitted the highest number of entries – 4,045 – followed by Brazil (2,647), Germany (1,971), UK (1,922), France (1,617) and India (1,177).
There were 327 entries from New Zealand agencies.
The festival has seen an overall increase in entries of 19% on last year, from 90 countries, and in 13 different categories: Cyber, Design, Direct, Film, Film Craft, Media, Outdoor, PR, Press, Promo & Activation, Radio, Titanium & Integrated and the new Creative Effectiveness Lions.
The biggest increase in entries was in PR, with a 43% spike versus last year.
Would be interested to know Tim how many came out of NZ (not that I’m a Kiwi) … though they usually bat well above their weight at these gigs.

Hi Anonymous,
There were 327 entries from New Zealand agencies – which I’ve now added to the story.
Cheers,

would the overwhelming number of entries have anything to do with the fact that they extended the end date about 5 times?

Wow. What does that cost Australia? At anywhere between 400 and 1,000 Euro an entry?
Lucky the dollar is strong
