Australia falls to fourth place on The Gunn Report

The Gunn ReportAustralia has fallen to fourth place in the annual The Gunn Report rankings for 2014 after grabbing second place last year, with Clemenger BBDO’s Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide offices tying for eighth place on the agency rankings with Leo Burnett Tailor Made.

Clemenger BBDO closed its Adelaide office at the end of last year, with clients and staff shifting across to KWP. The agency’s Sydney and Melbourne offices were the third most award for digital according to the rankings, which tallies the number of awards handed out through the year.

Leo Burnett, comprising its Sydney and Melbourne office, tied for 10th place with AMB BBDO London. Leo Burnett also tied for sixth place on the digital rankings.

Australian agencies didn’t register again on the rankings until the 32d spot, where DDB (Sydney and Melbourne) tied with BBDO Proximity Singapore and Venables Bells & Partners San Francisco.

McCann Melbourne, who last year tied for first place with Wieden + Kennedy, saw its ranking plummet to 35th while Wieden + Kennedy (Portland and New York) grabbed fourth place. McCann tied for 22nd place on the digital ranking.

Havas Worldwide came in at 41, and tied for sixth place in digital.

Unsurprisingly, Volvo Trucks’ The Epic Split was the most awarded film campaign of 2014. No Australian campaigns made the top 50.

Looking at production companies, Curious Films, which has offices in Sydney and Auckland, tied for 10th place while The Sweet Shop, which has offices in Auckland, Melbourne and Sydney, tied for 15th. The Sweet Shop’s director Steve Ayson has been ranked third on the most awarded directors in the world in 2014.

Also in production companies, Revolver grabbed the 24th ranking.

The networks saw BBDO the most awarded, with DDB in at second place. Leo Burnett was the third most awarded network with Ogilvy & Mather and Young & Rubicam rounding out the top five.
