Australian Ethical: we don’t invest in guns, tobacco or pollution
Sydney Communications agency I.D.E.A.S is behind a campaign for Australian Ethical Investment that introduces the new slogan ‘Positive wealth creation’.
The campaign – titled ‘wake up’ – is based on the insight that many people do not know what their superannuation is invested in.
Max Landrak, creative director at IDEAS, said: “Ethical investing can be a difficult concept to get across. We found that it’s a lot easier to explain to people what Australian Ethical don’t invest in.”
The campaign will run in print and online.
Paul Smith, GM of strategy and communication at Australian Ethical said: “Australian Ethical has a very clear position in the superannuation and investment space and we wanted a creative campaign that communicated this to new and existing customers alike”.

I live in the USA. When we defund the ATF and gun controllers, I am going to open a store called ATF. It stands for Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms and, I will sell them all under one store roof. Its sad that Australia has become such a Nanny State.

In the USA we don’t moderate comments that people post on blogs, that`s what commies do, we don’t like commies. No wonder all other countries including other western countries are second to the USA. I prefer the MAD MAX Australia to the Socialist Australia. Liquor, Guns and, Smokes for all.

Bryan, you sound sexy,

Hey Bryan, good one. You must be an Aussie posing as stereotypical American right? I think that’s a bit unfair, because I’ve met a lot of nice, inclusive, tolerant, smart Americans. It’s still pretty funny though… “commies” under every rock; “we’re #1” despite the economy, the poverty and the wars. Just to help you w/ your satire though, most reasonable media moderate comments in one way or another (e.g.: http://edition.cnn.com/terms/comment_policy.html), but I shouldn’t be picky – the truth is meant to be ignored when you’re doing a send up. All up, funny stuff Aussie Bryan!

accurate (if well-known) insight, pretty good execution, excellent cause
i love the way anything mentioning guns flushes out the American whack jobs, who only end up working against their own interests by demonstrating to the world what moronic inbreds they truly are

Who cares what you do in the USA. This is a campaign for an Australian company. What a bunch of boring comments to make Bryan.

Hey Bryan, I’d give you one!

Yea well, last time I checked, Australia was founded as a place to house the least desired of the British Empire. As for us inbreed Americans who make up a diverse background, we accomplished basically everything of the 19th, 20th and, soon 21st century. Thanks for letting us use your Radio Telescope for our Apollo Missions. We might need it again as we make history with the first private space company, Space X.
As much as I like Obama and voted for him the first time, I just don’t like the government telling me what to do and Obama is a socialist who want to turn America into just another 2nd rate country like Australia. By the way, when is an Aborigine going to become prime minister? Are there still any or did you wipe them all out?
Yes I am a American and though I am more cultured than you are, I still am a barbarian and like to do barbarian things.
If I ever move to Australia I would open a Mad Max Disney World for tourists, complete with desert and real dangers. I AM THE NIGHT RIDER!!!!!

Hi Bryan. A lot has happened in our past 200 years of which we shouldn’t be proud and many social issues remain in our country. I think it’s good to acknowledge that and even better to put time, effort and money to try to help the situation. You clearly have some strong views that I disagree with you on and I don’t think you’d be sharing them on this blog as you have if you were open to reconsidering them, so I won’t provoke you any more…
For me, I think we should all have freedom to choose to drink or smoke, but addictions to alcohol or drugs can be very harmful, so I’m happy to be able choose to invest my money with companies who don’t promote these industries. And, I like the comms. Good stuff.

The benefits of Space exploration we created, do I really need to get into that! Then of course there is the most recent, the modern internet and the iPhone.
Does any other country in the world have something close to Hollywood.
All your Australian news papers are fixated on America.
The Future King of England fly’s a American Made Apache helicopter and spends his time in Las Vegas.
Chuck
A lot has happened in 200 years, the most powerful man in the world is Black. No other western nation including you has had a non white leader. What happen to all the Aborigines? Are their still any that can be elected? I love how the Europeans love to call Americans racist when it was the Europeans who started all this racist colonization of the world. The Europeans who dragged America into WW1 and WW2 and created the monster war machine that is still running today. We then had to stop the commies and to deter a WW3 that you guys would have created again. A lot has happened in 200 years most of the bad stuff caused by Europeans.
United States leads the world in real equality. What you Europeans attempt in equality has lead to radical Muslims invading Europe for the first time and, Australia. I am sure some of you and your friends have been attacked by gangs of foreigners. In America we don’t have radical Muslims because they assimilate into American society or they get kicked out or shot.
I don’t think you really mean that you like commies. By all means go live in North Korea. The USSR was a great place to.
Its funny how America invests its money in war and other non PC things and we do well. When Europe and Australia stopped investing in war and started investing in Welfare States, those counties became less innovative and, more unstable. The recent UK and French Muslim riots. The UK riots go back to the 70s and 80s. Your countries are magnets for unskilled migrants seeking free benefits that drain your economy. In America you don’t get free hand outs, you work for every dollar.
In the USA we have not had a real riot since Rodney King in the early 1990s.
That because we are prosperous despite what your media has been telling you. Also if Radical Muslims or Welfare Rioters did what they did in the UK, well you know what would happen to them. Since American citizens have the right to own military grade weapons. We are real citizens because citizens run the government and that’s why we can have military firepower in our homes because the citizen is the government.
UK and Australian peasants don’t have as many right as we Americans. Your government tells you what to do.
The point is all that money spent on social welfare and this utopian planed society and you are not as good as the liquor, gun and smoke filled American barbarians.
As an American I have a choice to invest in good or bad companies, you Australians invest in what your government tells you to because you cant Drink, Smoke or own Guns anymore because you are peasants now. In fact in Europe and Australia, the migrants have more right than the native born people.

Last time I checked Bryan, the only reason we shipped convicts to Oz was because the French got behind the ‘Yanks’ and therefore we stopped shipping them to the USA. more convists were shipped to the USA than they were to Oz.
It’s funny, because the French did win that war, however the ties between the UK and USA seem tighter than the ones with France, yet they were the guys, who without, you might well have a union jack on your flag still. like us here in Oz 🙂 (Hawaii still has one of course…)

I have put my super into Australian Ethical since about 2003. I do care what I do or don’t invest in and it is a great feeling of freedom to me that I’m not supporting a whole bunch of things that I consciously don’t agree with.
It has nothing to do with nanny state ideas or whatever else is run up the rabid flagpole, It’s about freedom of choice, discrimination, determination, selectivity,
Most people I know have no idea what their invested money helps. Many don’t care. Most haven’t thought about it and haven’t considered the ramifications. That’s the way of the world.
For some!

Bryan, your non-nanny state utopia sounds inviting and, just like Australian newspapers, not only are most of the things I have to say pure sensationalist drivel, I am also fixated on the United States.
The things that fixate me the most are:
1. Not paying service staff enough or at all, so they always have their hand out begging for an undeserved tip. There are no free hand-outs in America, unless of course you include everyone’s hand out asking for a tip.
2. Being a country so litigious that there are warning signs on absolutely everything, and everyone is so scared of offending people everyone is referred to as sir or ma’am. Only a non-nanny state would be like that.
3. Having a drinking age of 21, only a non-nanny state would tell their citizens that they have to be 3 years into adult hood until it was legal to drink.
4. Health care for the wealthy only. What sort of nanny state lets poor people into their hospitals?
The list goes on and on Bryan. I will apply for a green card immediately!
Oh and we do have something in Australia that is similar to Hollywood. We call it “a dump”.

Admittedly both the USA and Australia have one, poor similarity. I am not sure, which is worse; “USA, USA, USA, USA…” OR “Ausie, Aussie, Aussie. Oiy, Oiy, Oiy…”.
No thought into either song, which is passionately sung at sporting events in both nations and around the World. In “nanny states” are songs uninventive?

Bryan – I live in Utah and the government won’t open the liquor stores on Sunday because they think we should all be in church. Isn’t Louisiana trying to ban pajama wearing in public? The nannies are all over here.

Hey Bryan. I agree with John Grono – if you say you’re going to stop, stop. It’d be too exhausting to respond seriously to your odd view of history and confusion between Europe and Australia, let alone talking about we’re you’re not #1 (e.g. economic growth, poverty rates, employment rates, GDP per capita, healthcare, life expectancy, education, innovation, happiness)… what I will say is:
1) I’m not European
2) If you read my comment properly, I was acknowledging white people / Europeans have done a lot of damage. I’m surprised you don’t acknowledge the same in your history.
3) I like to read books and visit other countries, be open to new ideas etc. It might be worth consideration.
Actually, I think that’ll do. Ignorance bliss, so I’m sure you’ll have a lovely day.

I am still here, you Australian peasants.
Yea by the way, I am a well educated mid 20`s upper middle class guy. For your information I studied Industrial Design.
Did not recently your government say that they wanted to change the gun laws so you could only have a maximum of three guns? They of course know whats best for you.
Are they not constantly passing new laws to lead to a complete ban on cigarettes?
Finally, how many of you have been attack by criminals and had home invasions? How many of you have been arrested for defending your self? You cant defend your self, especially with a gun can you? Don’t you guys have radicals Muslims in your country that want to do bad things to you. I know in America we don’t have radical Muslims openly living in our society.
We can defend our selves and shoot home intruders and radical Muslims.
We can also start companies like Apple, Space X, and do other world changing things. What has Australia done despite having the same natural resources and capability as the United States. Why is it that I as an American came up with an idea of a Mad Max World. Why has a Aussie not come up with a Mad Max World or an Apple Computer. Its because your socialist government wants you to be non exceptional, including your buddies in the UK. All you want to do is hand out welfare checks, that`s all you guys think about in Australia and the UK is welfare checks.
For example in the UK, you spent all that time and money on social engineering for a great society and you recently had massive rioting in London. You have insane stories of criminals getting a slap on the wrist for rape and murder.
The point is you Aussies need to stop being helpless peasants and be a little Mad like Max. Stop wasting your money on a welfare state. Stop letting your government tell you what to do. Your governments only purpose should be to maintain a military. And, in that my government has no equal.
One last example, Americans started the now global Occupy Wall Street movement that I believe is in Australia. Why did not the UK or Australians not start it? And no you cant say because the UK and Australia does not have social inequality.
You just had riots in the UK over Austerity cuts.
User ID not verified.
Bryan… you need to get a new factbook.
I for one have never been attacked or been victim to a home invasion, so haven’t need to shoot someone to protect myself.
I also don’t feel too worried about it, especially given our homicide rate is 4 to 4.5 times lower than that of the US (FBI and Aust Bureau of Statistics data).
Thirdly, why are we peasants? Do you mean we’re poor? In the last few years our GDP per capita has been $42k to $48k and the US has been $45k to $47k.
Yes, there is a lot of innovation from the US and I’m sure more than Aust, but wouldn’t you expect that given you have 300million people to our 22million?
What else… I know Muslim people, none of which are ‘radical’
Umm… Occupy Wall St started in the US not for any reason you should be proud of, but because people were upset with corruption, greed and mismanagement.
Why are you so intent on being #1 Bryan? Does it define you? Maybe… someone else, somewhere else have something good to offer… Just a thought.
BTW, people have tuned out now, so I’m going to stop writing. Best of luck “well educated” Bryan.

I love the historical debate between the US and Europe. Both have contributed much to technological and social advancement and both have helped & hindered poorer nations in their development, but only in Nazi Germany can this be attributed entirely to the state; elsewhere it has been the pursuits of individuals and business interests, often condoned and protected by government (whose members privately share such business interests) & miltary (patriotic cannon fodder) that have produced real damage. All white nations are guilty of this (I’m cauky BTW), as well as China and India in their heydays.
Anyway, Bollywood and Nigeria each produce way more films than Hollywood, with lesser technology and budget, and generally of the same generic pap.

Bryan – big fan, love your alcohol and gun smoking attitude.
Just wanted to ask you to cover a few things for me. I hope you don’t mind.
• The riots in the 60s where black people were hosed down on the street and shot at. Was it Malcolm X? Martin Luther King? KK… was it KKK or KKJ. Do you know anything about that?
• The only slaves we’ve had in Australia have been white – English or Irish. So why do we need to elect a Native Prime Minister? It would be awesome, but I have to tell you, although they share a similar skin colour, Aboriginals are not related to the ‘black’ people you refer to. So I think it’s awesome you’ve got a ‘black’ Prime Minister (what race is ‘black’ by the way?), but when are you going to get an American Indian Prime minister?
• Speaking of American Indians, how many do you have in Government? How many do you have in positions of power? CEO’s? Do they still exist, or do we have to go to Pocahontas Disneyland to see them?
• You say America has resolved its racial problem, yet we still hear reports of hate crimes being committed. And every suspect on the news seems to be of this ‘black’ race you’re talking about. And that phrase… ‘What do you mean ‘you people’?’ – What does that mean? Is your ‘black’ race allowed to use the same restaurants, bathrooms and bubblers as the ‘Steve Jobs’ race? Last time I heard, they weren’t.
• I’m glad you invented the internet. We have a saying in Australia. It’s easier to make everyone around you stoop to your level, than to rise to theirs. So it makes things a lot easier for you guys. After all, nobody likes to make Americans feel uncomfortable based on the fact their national IQ test is a lot easier than the European / Australian tests.
• I once lived with an American. She would call me at all times of the day and ask things like ‘How do I turn the shower off?’ After explaining to her to turn the taps back the opposite way to how she turned them on, I kind of thought she was pretty slow. Are all Americans that slow? Is that why your ‘black’ race still eats in different restaurants to your ‘Steve Jobs’ race?
• What does ‘Cracker’ mean? I someone saying it to Kramer from Seinfield after he was talking about stringing a ‘black’ race up in a tree, and a bunch of your ‘black’ race got offended, while your ‘Steve Jobs’ race sat there and laughed, filming the whole thing on their ‘Steve Jobs’ phones.
• Why weren’t your American Indians upset by this as well? Is it because they don’t exist anymore?
• Why do you call them American Indians, when they’re clearly not like the ‘Steve Jobs’ race of Americans and don’t work in telemarketing, own restaurants or drive taxis for a living?
• Why did you kill John Lennon?
