Australian horror film to screen at US film festival

An Australian horror film has been selected to screen at Louisville’s Fright Night Horror Weekend Film Festival from June 29-July 1.

The announcement:

Australiaʼs own supernatural horror film “Muirhouseʼ; currently screening at Marche Du Film at this monthʼs Cannes Film Festival; yesterday announced it will be included in the Official Selection at this years Fright-Night Film Festival in the USA.

ʻWe are thrilled to receive an invitation from this renowned horror festivalʼ Tanzeal Rahim, Writer/Director of ʻMuirhouseʼ comments ʻAustralians have been kicking goals at this years Cannes Film Festival, and the support for our film from local and overseas markets has been overwhelming! This invitation to attend Fright-Night is just a cherry on the top of a hugely successful week for us!ʼ.

In the tradition of films like ʻThe Blair Witch Projectʼ and ʻParanormal Activityʼ – “Muirhouseʼ is a documentary style film set in Australiaʼs most haunted house; the Monte Cristo Homestead.

The film is based on actual happenings at the house from documented recordings by paranormal experts. Philip Muirhouse (played by Australian actor Iain PF MacDonald) finds himself alone in the house; and the frightening events of that night are recorded in real time by camera and audio devices; taking the audience on a suspenseful, nail biting ride!
