Australian Seniors launches new podcast with James Valentine

Australian Seniors has launched a new podcast focusing on ‘grey nomads’, Life’s Booming.

The announcement:

Leading over 50s insurance specialists, Australian Seniors, has today launched a new podcast series, Life’s Booming, offering new and engaging audio content for the over 50s population. Debuting with two episodes hosted by renowned Australian journalist and radio veteran, James Valentine, Life’s Booming takes listeners on a journey around Australia, focusing on the Grey Nomads of the nation.

The launch series of six episodes, uncovers tales of travel and adventure of Australian seniors who have set out on a life like no other. Tackling the motivations behind this lifestyle along with the confronting and unmistakable highs of a nomadic existence, Life’s Booming delivers heart-warming, thought provoking and humorous audio content for this key demographic.

In episode one, we meet retirees Tony and Lisa Southwell, a couple with a zest for life, both of which have had health battles, who explain to us what the word ‘coddiwomple’ means. In episode two, we hear of the adventures of thalidomide survivor, Gaylene Seeney and her dog, Albert, as they go off the beaten track and head bush.

“I’m loving doing Life’s Booming, because it’s a group of people we don’t hear from. They’re off the grid, they’re out of the cities, they’re living a life of adventure. They’re not popping up in our media all the time and I don’t think we really understand what’s driving them or just how bold they are. In an age where many of us are struggling to change the channel from Netflix to Stan, they’re pulling three tonne of van across the Nullarbor and having the time of their lives,” said Mr Valentine.

Simon Hovell, Chief Marketing Officer at Australian Seniors, says the launch comes as Australia makes its way towards the end of a challenging year, which has highlighted the need to connect with the senior population, particularly as many have reported less frequent and quality contact with family, friends and their community.

“2020 has been a year unlike any other with the impacts to over 50s felt in a variety of ways. The launch of the Life’s Booming podcast provides a new way in which we can connect with them and that’s why we partnered with content specialists, Medium Rare, following the successful launch of DARE magazine earlier this year.”

“With the popularity of podcasts increasing by 70 per cent over the last five years and the adoption of the nomadic life for Australians, we’re confident this podcast will be a success for our customers and seniors across the country. With the talented James Valentine hosting the series, it makes for incredible listening.”

Available on Spotify, Google Podcast, Apple Podcast and on the Australian Seniors website, the remaining four episodes will be available by December 2020.
