Australia’s strong Ashes performance dominates Sunday TV
Day two of the second Ashes test on Nine – which saw Australia declare late in the evening – dominated television viewing on Sunday.
The second session, which ran from 4:30pm to 6:50pm AEDST, was the most-watched of the day, attracting 1.282 metro viewers.

Although the test was played in Adelaide, the biggest audience came from Melbourne (419,000), followed by Sydney (327,000). Adelaide’s audience was 161,000.
The Ashes’ first session, which ran form 1:30pm AEDST managed 939,000 metro viewers, while the final session – from 7:30pm to 10pm – achieved 1.263m.
Session three – which saw England start to bat – was the most-watched across the key advertising demographics – 16-39, 18-49 and 25-54.
However the most-watched program overall was Nine News Sunday, with 1.392m metro viewers, according to OzTAM’s overnight preliminary metro ratings.
Seven News also featured in the top five, with 1.190m metro viewers and ABC News Sunday pulled in 654,000.
Meanwhile, Seven’s interview with Brenda Lin – the only survivor of the Lin massacre – on Sunday Night achieved 652,000 metro viewers.
Ten’s Bull, which ran from 7:30pm, managed 288,000.
In the later time slot, Ten’s Wisdom of the Crowd collected 235,000 across Australia’s five metro cities, while Seven’s movie offering Robin Hood managed 493,000.
Looking to the main channel overall audience shares, Nine comfortably dominated at 29.5%. Seven came second with 19.9%, followed by ABC’s share of 12.3%, Ten’s share of 6.7% and SBS’ share of 4.3%.
