Avengers: Endgame loses top spot in weekend box office
John Wick: Chapter 3 has knocked Avengers: Endgame off the top spot in last weekend’s box office figures.
The third instalment of the John Wick series pulled in $4.148m from 259 screens over its first weekend. The film stars Keanu Reeves as the titular character, who is on the run from a legion of assassins after he killed a leader of their group.
Detective Pikachu also managed to overtake Avengers: Endgame over the weekend. In its second weekend, the film starring the iconic Pokémon character drew in $3.314m over 295 screens, bringing its overall earnings to $9.4m.
In its fourth weekend at the box office, Avengers: Endgame drew in just over $3m, continuing its overall Australian box office climb to $78.66m. The Marvel blockbuster continued to dominate screens in Australia, showing across 522.
Coming in fourth was the Anne Hathaway and Rebel Wilson led comedy The Hustle. In its second weekend at the box office the film showed across 262 screens, earning $1.4m.
Rounding out the top five was Australian film Top End Wedding in its third weekend. The film received $518,700, bringing its overall earnings to $3.83m

No John Wick is NOT on the run for killing the leader of their group. He is on the run after killing Santino on Continental grounds, and now is excommunicado from the Continental with bounty on his head.
I haven’t seen chapter 3 yet, but at least i know the real reason he is on the run.
