AWF’s Foxtel Fellowship

The Australian Writers’ Foundation is calling for nominations for their annual Foxtel Fellowship. Worth $25,000, the Fellowship welcomes nominations of screenwriters who have a proven track record in television writing. Its aim is to allow the recipient to further explore the craft, scope and impact in a particular project of their choosing.

Now in its 5th year, the fellowship was last year awarded to Sue Smith whose work includes The Leaving of Liverpool, Brides of Christ, R.A.N Remote Area Nurse, My Brother Jack, Fallen Angels and The Cooks.

Of receiving the fellowship, Smith said, “The FOXTEL Fellowship has allowed me to let my imagination travel into the kind of tricky or confronting territory that I may have felt constrained about under other circumstances.”

Screenwriters may nominate themselves but the AWF also encourages third party nominations. The fellow will be announced at the 44th Annual AWGIE Awards in September.

Nominations for the 2011 Foxtel Fellowship close at 5pm, Friday 19 August. For more details visit the Australian Writers’ Guild.
