Basketball player Andrew Bogut joins sports marketing firm
Sports management agency One Management Group & Consulting (OMGC) has announced basketballer Andrew Bogut as a company director as it launches a strategy division with a focus on sponsorship and sports marketing.
Bogut, an NBA player and Australian representative player heads the company with Bruce Kaider, managing director.
Kaider said of the marketing opportunities for brands: “There’s two streams: talent management – we’re interested in talking with brands from a straight endorsement perspective. We’re also looking at how talent can involve brands in the new media space.”
“We’re about putting together strategies to make innovative content for social media and websites, and using them to engage audiences. There are so many marketing messages out there. But if you can create that one-to-one engagement between brand and customer through talent you’ll get great cut through.”
The company already has a client list that includes Qantas, Nike and Body Science body supplement.
OMGC has signed three new key sportstars in Western Bulldogs AFL player Shaun Higgins, Atlanta Braves pitcher Peter Moylan and basketball star Patrick Mills.
Kaider said the growth spurt of the company came from the seven foot tall Bogut’s involvement: “The company has been round for six years but where we really started to change was with Andrew Bogut as a director.”
“We thought about our growth strategy over the next five years. First and foremost we’re an Australian company with growth here and talent here – but very much with an eye to the international market.”
