Bastion Brands hires Pete Smith as head of art

Bastion Brands has appointed Pete Smith – who recently returned to Australia after seven years in China as Ogilvy Health’s regional executive creative director – as head of art.

The announcement:

Australia’s fastest growing healthcare specialist creative agency, Bastion Brands, has appointed Pete Smith as its Head of Art.

Smith is one of the healthcare creative agency sector’s most experienced creative talents. He brings more than 20 years’ healthcare advertising experience, and has been the creative force behind the launch of some of the region’s most successful healthcare brands.

He began his healthcare advertising career at Curtis, Jones and Brown as an Art Director, and went on to lead the agency creatively before heading overseas. Smith recently returned home after seven years in China as the regional ECD at Ogilvy Health.

Pete will join Bruce Williams, Bastion Brands Creative Director, to help drive the agency’s creative offering.

“I’m incredibly excited about joining Bastion Brands and to help bolster its already formidable creative reputation,” Mr Smith said. “Independent, agile, creative and specialised agencies are the best place to be.”

Bastion Brands’ CD Bruce Williams said: “I’m delighted to have a person as passionate and hard-working as Pete as part of the Bastion Brands creative team. Pete will help reinforce our capability in digital, design and overall art-direction. Pete’s years of experience leading award-winning creative divisions in China also now gives us a wealth of experience as we extend our client base regionally.”

Simon Davies, Founder and CEO at Bastion Brands, said: “Pete is our eighth new hire in the past three months. His skillset and experience is a perfect addition to the evolution of our creative firepower as we increasingly deliver more creative, complex digital solutions to clients.”

Bastion Brands is Australia’s leading independent communications agency specialising in helping pharmaceutical and other health related businesses and causes build success.
