BBC Studios appoints two APAC general managers
BBC Studios is building its APAC team with the appointment of two general managers for the region.
Fiona Lang will take on the role of general manager, Australia and New Zealand, while Ryan Shiontani will lead South and South East Asia.
Lang has been promoted into the role from her position as chief operating officer for ANZ and will be leading the Sydney-based branded services, commercial and content sales teams. She has held the COO role since 2014, having joined BBC in 2012 from private practice.
Shiotani is currently acting SVP, branded services, Asia, and will hold the role of SVP and GM, South and South East Asia, based in Singapore, and leading the branded services, marketing, creative, content and affiliate sales teams in South East Asia and India.
Shiotani joined BBC Studios in 2007 as director, programming, Asia.
Prior to joining BBC Studios, Shiotani worked across programming, acquisitions, content sales and production in Asia, Latin America, Europe and North America for Discovery Networks Latin America/Iberia, MTM Entertainment, TV Globo and Sesame Workshop.

Ryan has successfully developed and led the branded services portfolio in Asia, recently stepping up as acting SVP for branded services and demonstrating his business leadership credentials.”
Both roles report directly to Penn, as part of the newly formed Asia Pacific (APAC) regional business, incorporating Australia, New Zealand and Asia, which was announced in September 2019.
