Belle magazine has announced the finalists of the Belle Coco Republic 2011 Interior Design Awards, which are sponsored by furniture and design brand Coco Republic. KAS, Kiwi Collection and Qantas are supporting sponsors.

The announcement:

Belle magazine, in association with leading furniture and design brand Coco Republic, is excited to announce the finalists in the inaugural Belle Coco Republic 2011 Interior Design Awards.

These prestigious, keenly-contested accolades acknowledge and reward excellence and creativity in the Australian interior design industry.

The finalists and profiles of their work are unveiled in the June/July issue of Belle, on sale today (Monday, 2 May) and encompass five categories:

•    Best residential interior
•    Best commercial interior
•    Best corporate interior
•    Best hospitality interior
•    the ultimate award: the Belle Coco Republic Interior Designer of the Year

Finalists (details on page 2) were chosen on the basis of originality and innovation, quality of execution and response and adherence to the brief.

Contenders for the ultimate award – the Belle Coco Republic interior designer of the year – were judged on their overall bodies of work submitted.

Belle editor-in-chief Neale Whitaker said: “The calibre of entries this year is outstanding. It demonstrates that the quality of Australian interior design is truly world-class, and it’s exciting that through these awards we can celebrate such innovation and talent.”

Coco Republic director Jeremy Byrne said: “Coco Republic is a major supporter of Australian interior design talent. In addition to running our own interior design school, we have an in-house interior design team that works with many exciting interior designers on a range of projects encompassing residential, corporate, hospitality and commercial. The Belle Coco Republic 2011 Interior Design Awards reinforce and extend that support.”

The Belle Coco Republic Interior Designer of the Year will receive a return business class flight to London with Qantas and the opportunity to meet two of the UK’s leading interior designers, Kelly Hoppen and Andrew Martin. The prize also includes seven nights’ accommodation in one of Kiwi Collection’s luxurious London properties to attend the London Design Festival from September 16-22, 2011.

The winners in each category will receive a $1000 Coco Republic voucher, a KAS Onyx premium bed linen selection and an engraved design piece from Georg Jensen.

Winners will be announced at a champagne reception at Coco Republic’s luxurious Alexandria (Sydney) showroom on 11 May.

The winning designers and their work will be published in Belle’s August/September issue, on sale Monday, 4 July.
