Ben Cousins helps Seven to easy ratings win for the week

Seven’s Ben Cousins documentary helped the network to one of its most comfortable weekly wins of the year, with a free TV primetime viewing share of 27.8% last week.

This was well ahead of Nine’s 22.5%, Ten’s 17.5%, ABC1’s 15% and SBS1’s 4.4% in what was Week 35 of the ratings year.

The documentary’s Thursday performance was particularly helpful for Seven in what has recently been one of its weakest days of the week.

Meanwhile, in a sign of the gorwing impact of the Freeview digital channels – and threat to SBS – Nine’s spin-off Go! delivered a share of 4.3%, only just behind SBS1. 7Two averaged 3.9%.

In the 16-39, 18-49 and 25-54 demographics, SBS1 was beaten by Go!, accoridng to ratings from OzTam.

In the battle for the year, the Seven Network is currently ahead of Nine by the narrowest of margins – by 28% to 27.9%. Ten is on 21.7%.
