Ben Wilks appointed Cupra Australia brand director, following launch

Volkswagen Group Australia (VGA) has announced the appointment of Ben Wilks as brand director of Cupra Australia, following the launch earlier this week.

Wilks will move across from his current role as general manager, sales for Volkswagen Passenger Vehicles (PV).

Regarding Wilks’ promotion, VGA managing director, Michael Bartsch said: “Ben has been a valued and trusted member of VGA’s executive team for many years now; first as general manager of Volkswagen Passenger Vehicles’ marketing department, and then as its head of sales.”

“It is Ben’s unique experience and skill set, coupled with his passion for the group’s brands, that makes him the natural fit for our newest, and most exciting brand.”

Wilks has been at VGA for 12 years, initially joining as learning and development manager, experiencing five promotions during this time, culminating in this recent appointment.

VGA said in a statement that the successor for Wilks’ role at Volkswagen Passenger Vehicles will be announced in due course, with Bartsch overseeing PV sales in the interim, supported by the sales leadership team.

From the upcoming Cupra line-up

VGA announced earlier this year that it would be bringing Cupra to Australia next year, following the establishment as a sub-brand of Volkswagen in 2018.

More details regarding the launch and the product line-up to follow shortly, according to VGA.
