The best content marketing campaigns, navigating publishing technology, optimising email and sales secrets to be discussed at Publish conference
Top speakers from the likes of Fairfax, Buzzfeed, Domain, Isentia, Medium Rare and The New Daily are amongst the latest people announced to speak at next month’s Publish conference, as the full program is announced today.
New sessions announced today include a deep-dive into the best content marketing campaigns of the last year, how to navigate the world of publishing technology, creating a compelling sales narrative and optimising your emails for click-through.
Publish takes place on October 19 at The Westin in Sydney, and will feature streams looking at the business of publishing and how to create effective content marketing strategies.
Fairfax Media’s chief revenue officer Matt Rowley will share exclusive insights on how the publisher is faring as it looks to wean away from a dependence on social traffic in the keynote opening session covering publisher’s relationships with the likes of Facebook and Google.
In that same session Buzzfeed’s Simon Crerar will present how the publisher built for social sharing has shifted its models over time as it looks to the next phase of growth globally. They join CEO of The Australian Nicholas Grey, ABC digital audience guru Flip Prior and The Huffington Post’s Australian CEO JJ Eastwood in the session which will feature presentations and discussions on one of the biggest challenges facing publishers today.
Meanwhile Domain’s chief editorial and marketing officer Melina Cruickshank will sit alongside representatives from The Betoota Advocate and The Shovel to discuss the rise of satirical content, and how the brand has found success with its own satirical takes on different Australian cities.
One new session announced today will see globally-renowned content marketing expert Todd Wheatland analysing several successful content campaigns from around the world, giving take-home tips on why they were so successful.
In another session tech consultant Tim Lovitt takes a deep dive into the world of advertising and publisher technology, looking at how the ecosystem is changing and advances coming down the pipeline that will impact large and small players in the next year.
Meanwhile Mary Ann Azer, Executive Director, Magazine Networks, will moderate a session with sales bosses from Australian publishers and media agency representatives sharing successful techniques for selling the benefits of publishing brands to marketers and agencies.
And Adestra will host a session with a panel of experts sharing techniques and tricks for optimising their email databases, an increasingly vital opportunity for all publishers.
The New Daily’s editor Thomas Hunter will explain how they create truly clickable headlines, Mumbrella’s marketing head Danika Porter will discuss techniques she has learned for segmenting and optimising a large database for marketing purposes, while Marketsoft’s Ross Macrae will share tips on how to optimise databases and mine them for even more information.
They will sit alongside Carl Chambers, the regional director for email solutions provider Adestra, on the panel.
And a slew of top content and marketing minds have also been announced for the panel looking at why so many brands are turning to print as a marketing channel.
Medium Rare’s Deborah Bibby, editor-in-chief of the recently-launched David Jones magazine, Fiona Corsie, the content marketing manager looking after travel provider APT’s new magazine, Voyage and Flight Centre’s content and publications manager Cassie Laffey will give the perspective from the brand side.
Meanwhile Natalie Taylor, national sales director for printing giant BlueStar and Rob Gallagher, CEO, Adventures Group Holdings will discuss how things are playing out in this emerging space from a publisher and industry standpoint in the session moderated by Lauren Quaintance.
