Dr Mumbo

When the Betoota Advocate started spruiking super

While Dr Mumbo was revolted at the thought that Australia’s finest local news outlet, the Betoota Advocate, had finally fallen to the tide of native advertising, he has to concede that they’ve at least done it on brand, and in style.

Grow Super is the lucky recipient of the heavy spruiking from the Betoota Advocate’s Clancy Overall, who takes to video to confess: “Our newspaper has been paid a disgusting amount of money to promote a new financial technology from some start up down south.”

With a focus on “banker wankers”, investing in “greenie bullshit” and life “when you’re old and fucked”, this is financial marketing, but not as we know it.

Plus, a slogan to be proud of: “Grab your superannuation by the balls”.

Dr Mumbo is delighted to see that the Betoota Advocate’s Facebook fans seem to like the message – with 120,000 views and counting…
