Better Homes occupies the crease as cricket collapse shrinks evening audience
The Seven Network’s Better Homes and Gardens out-batted the test between South Africa and Australia on Nine to help drive Seven to an overall win on Friday night.
The night after a dominant Australian display on the pitch delivered the most viewed show of the evening, an Australian collapse saw the Friday evening session deliver a five metro market audience of 701,000.
Seven’s lifestyle show fared better with 772,000 tuning in, while Seven’s early evening game show, The Chase Australia at 5pm drew 580,000.
Seven’s News/Today Tonight at 6.30pm was the highest rating show of the day with 1.004m, ahead of Seven News at 6pm with 939,000.
Nine News at 6pm had 859,000 viewers.
Ten’s best effort for the evening was The Living Room at 7.30pm, boasting 531,000 viewers, ahead of The Project at 6.30pm with 422,000 and Tens News at 5pm on 421,000.
In the breakfast slot Sunrise on Seven took the honours with 339,000 viewers, well ahead of Today with 280,000.
Seven owned the night with a comfortable main channel share of 21.5%, topping Nine’s 17%.
Ten topped the ABC with 12.7% versus 10.3%, while SBS had a share of 3.8%.
