Big Bash pulls 897,000 viewers as The Chase Australia audience falls in prime time
Seven’s decision to screen episodes of gameshow The Chase Australia in prime time has backfired with audiences down compared to its usual 5pm time slot.
Last night the game show managed 537,000 according to OzTam overnight metro ratings, down on last week when the game show was performing strongly in the 5pm slot with audiences around the 650,000 mark.
It came on a night when Ten’s Big Bash again dominated TV viewing pulling 897,000 for a match between the Adelaide Strikers and the Hobart Hurricanes in Adelaide.
Wednesday night otherwise saw TV audiences down significantly with a repeat of Highway Patrol the most watched show, when both news and sport are excluded, with an audience of 576,000.
On a night where no show received over 1m viewers Nine’s RBT show at 7.30pm drew 517,000 for a repeat.
In news Seven won the 6pm slot and Nine took out the 6.30pm bulletin. Seven had 996,000 and 914,000 respectively, Nine had 958,000 and 943,000 in the later slot.
In main channel audience the Big Bash helped Ten win the night with 20.1 per cent, Seven had 16.8 per cent, Nine had 14.9 per cent and the ABC with 10.4 per cent.
