The Biggest Loser gains in second night as audience grows to 852,000

The Biggest LoserThe emotional second episode of Ten’s ninth season of The Biggest Loser out-rated the first as 852,000 metro viewers watched the team face the mental test in a bid to make it into the house last night.

The Biggest Loser: Challenge Australia had 753,000 for its debut last night and gained almost 100,000 viewers to become the most-watched program for Ten’s target demographic of people 25-54, and the most-watched entertainment show of the night.

It was also second in its timeslot after the tennis on Channel Seven, OzTam’s preliminary overnight ratings show.

Meanwhile 1.106m watched as Roger Federer completed a win over Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the Australian Open from 7pm, and Agnieszka Radwanska beat Garbine Muguruza to become the last woman to reach the quarter finals.

ABC1 was third in the timeslot as the 7.30 Summer Edition averaged 749,000 and Nine’s Big Bang Theory repeat had 713,000 metro viewers.

Nine’s second and third Big Bang Theory reruns were second in the 8pm and 8.30pm timeslots after the tennis as they had 790,000 and 782,000 viewers. Meanwhile ABC1 had 716,000 for a repeat episode of QI with Stephen Fry, and 585,000 for Fry’s documentary Out There, exploring what it means to be gay in Uganda.

Ten’s NCIS repeat averaged 569,000 at 8.30pm and was 18th for the night, however the show gained 38,000 viewers for last week’s episode lifting its audience from 471,000 to 432,000 in the consolidated ratings.

Seven News had the largest overall audience last night with 1.191m and Seven had the greatest share of the audience; 24.4 per cent.

Nine News was the second program of the night with 1.135m for the first half and 1.117m for the second, helping Nine secure a 19.1 per cent audience share.

Ten’s audience share was the third largest of the free to air networks at 12.3 per cent, as ABC1 averaged an 11.7 per cent share of the audience.
