The Block dominates to deliver Nine the weekly win

Four dominant nights by The Block have combined to give Nine the weekly honours over Seven as the home renovation show delivered big audiences for the network.

theblock_2016_talents_group_1mb-468x254-1-468x254The Block grabbed four consecutive nights with audiences above one million, including the highest rating show of the week with 1.279m tuning in on Sunday night.

Overall Nine had seven of the top 10 shows of the week, while Seven could only scratch the surface with its news shows.

In particular, Seven’s talent show, X factor, has failed to deliver for the network with the show reporting its lowest ever audience on Monday night dropping below 800,000 with just 798,000 capital city viewers.

Seven’s best non-news show of the week was The Secret Daughter starring Jessica Mauboy on Sunday night with 862,000.

Ten’s best was Australian Survivor, which the network has announced will be renewed for 2017, with 760,000 viewers on Monday.

Nine finished with a main channel share of 19.2% for the full week, ahead of Seven’s main channel with 18.7%.

Ten reported a share of 12.5%, beating the ABC on 12.2% and SBS with 5.2%.

Saturday night’s schedule saw the ABC deliver the most popular non-news show of the night with Agatha Raisin at 7.30pm drawing 649,000 while Seven had the highest rating show on the commercial networks with the movie Thor: The Dark World watched by 469,000 at 7pm.

Ten’s early evening broadcast of the Bledisloe Cup from New Zealand at 5.30pm had an audience of 414,000 and followed on from its daytime broadcast of the V8 Supercars podium with 368,000.
