The Block and Hell’s Kitchen defeat Shark Tank as it moves to 7:30pm

Ten’s Shark Tank moved into the 7:30pm time slot last night, but its 477,000 metro viewers weren’t enough to beat rival shows Nine’s The Block and Seven’s Hell’s Kitchen.

The Block was the most-watched entertainment program of the night, attracting 1.005m metro viewers, while Hell’s Kitchen placed 12th, with 632,000 metro viewers, according to OzTAM’s overnight preliminary metro ratings.

Shark Tank is now running from 7:30pm.

Hell’s Kitchen and Shark Tank did not appear in the top five programs across the key advertising demographics – the 16-39s, 18-49s and 25-54s – as Nine’s The Block and True Story with Hamish & Andy dominated.

Nine’s shows placed first and second across the key ad demographics, and were surrounded by news programs, with the exception of Kath & Kim (fifth) in the 18-49s.

In the later time slot, Nine’s True Story with Hamish & Andy – which is currently looking for more stories for its second season – dominated, with 905,000 metro viewers.

Other programs running at the same time were Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmare USA on Seven with 413,000 metro viewers and NCIS on Ten.

News programs were watched by more Australians than entertainment, with Seven News topping the ladder at 1.048m, ahead of Nine News’ 1.015m.

Nine comfortably won the night thanks to its news offering, The Block and Hamish & Andy, with an average audience share of 22.4%, ahead of Seven’s 17.8% and Ten’s 11.2%.

ABC’s share was 11.6% and SBS had a share of 5.0%.
