Blogger launches cooking magazine for busy parents
Food blogger Allie Gaunt is to launch a new food magazine aimed at parents who don’t have enough time on their hands.
The blogger who created the blog One Handed Cooks, says the new magazine will have the same title as the website and will feature a variety of nutritious and family-friendly recipes.
“The blog started as a hobby and just grew from there,” said Gaunt. “We thought a magazine would be a very accessible way of getting our content out to parents.”
The magazine will feature content from Gaunt and also accredited dietician Jessica Beaton. “Once I got Jessica on board it started to grow as a brand and then took off. I think that was because there was a lot of interest from parents who had a need for help with wholesome food and bringing it back to those basics for the family,” she said.
The magazine will be published by published by CMMA Print & Digital and will be available in Coles Supermarkets and newsagents from November 7.
“We are doing this together with publishing company CMMA, because they approached us about the idea of also doing a print magazine,” said Gaunt.
“We also have advertisers on board and they are funding it as well. At the moment we are looking at four editions a year but it may be expanded to six depending on how it goes.”
Gaunt said they would also look to create an app in the new year.
“We are also looking at an app which would probably be our next step,” she said.

Well done Allie! This lovely lady is who I give sole credit to for transforming the way I think about childrens nutrition! It turns out, I knew NOTHING and believed EVERYTHING before forming a friendship with this woman! She offers simple, relate able and realistic advice to the everyday Mum! Couldn’t be happier for you Allie – you’re amazing and deserve every success!! x

Brilliant news and great to see someone endorsing the print platform. I think this is where the magazine industry can excel – lean, mean independents excelling in one thing. For all the doom and gloom of Bauer (who, to be fair, inherited a stack of dated, bloated, underperforming titles) print can still be an exciting place to be. Sure, not the glamour of a Harpers but in B2B, B2C, niche and hobbyists who are happy with smaller circs and revenues. For all digital’s cost-saving merits, nothing beats a good magazine!
