Blue Jeans adds Personal and Studio platforms to Facebook Live

Video communications company BlueJeans has launched a new platform for Facebook Live, extending its capabilities to allow for as many as 100 participants to use video at the one time.

The two-part platform offers multiple users access to real-time video via multiple windows.

The platform consists of two sections: On Social Personal and On Social Studio. Personal will offer live broadcasting on any device to groups of up to 25 participants, whereas Studio (known previously as BlueJeans for Facebook Live), will allow up to 100 people to broadcast together and extra features to maximise video quality.

Studio will include extra tools such as presenters and advanced camera control for a “professional-grade live experience”.

Lori Wright, chief marketing officer at BlueJeans, said: “Facebook Live tapped into consumers’ love of video and offers an incredible way to share and communicate. Now we want to take it to the next level – from one person’s experience shared with the world to a completely shared experience in which the world can participate.

“Clearly people are excited about the opportunity for Facebook Live to do more. Our Beta period reflected an incredible range of uses, greater than we had initially imagined. As such, we created a differentiated product offering in order to meet the wide variety of needs,” Wright said.
