BMW pitches media; incumbent battles holdcos

German auto brand, BMW is once again pitching its media account, Mumbrella can reveal.

The account, which is understood to be worth as much as $20 million in annual billings is currently held by Atomic 212, won in 2020 from Dentsu’s Vizeum.

Agencies join the race for BMW’s media account

The pitching market is heating up domestically, with RFP’s currently out for brands including Priceline, Victoria University, Cricket Australia, 40 Winks, Momentum Energy, and more.

Atomic 212 did not provide comment, however, Mumbrella understands it is looking to retain the pitch against a number of international holding group agencies.

BMW did not respond to Mumbrella in time for this article’s publishing.

Just over a year ago, BMW Australia appointed Alex McLean as its new general manager for BMW marketing, replacing Tony Sesto, who spent 12 years at the company.

Sesto joined Marshall White as chief commercial officer, while McLean stepped across from head of marketing for BMW Mini Australia and New Zealand.

Last year, the brand also reappointed Clemenger BBDO and Colenso BBDO as its creative lead agencies in Australia and New Zealand, following a pitch.
