Boy was a definite crowd pleaser so its not suprising its up top. Such a travesty that Winter’s Bone didn’t make the list, it was easily the best feature I saw during MIFF. Equally a travesty that The Wedding Party did make the list, it was easily the poorest comedy I saw during MIFF and imo almost damning of MIFF as a whole that it was chosen as an opening night feature.
Four Lions – Great and deserves its placing. Summer Wars – Not a bad anime but I’m suprised to see it in the top 10.
I didn’t see any of the other top 10 features although I slightly regret ditching certified copy to get some sleep when festival fatigue set in.
The Top Doco list is more like it, I saw Bill Cunningham, Dr Nakamats, Teenage Papparazzo and 5 Elephants and they were all exceptional. Bill Cunningham is definitely worth checking out when it gets a general release, an exceptional doco about an exceptional person.
