News Corp’s community publishing director Brett Clegg resigns

News Corp’s managing director of community publishing, Brett Clegg, has resigned from the business for personal reasons.

Promoted: Brett Clegg

Brett Clegg re-joined News Corp from Fairfax in an executive role in 2013 having previously been with News in an editorial role.

Clegg re-joined news in 2013, having previously held the role of deputy CEO of The Australian before he was lured to Fairfax.

He returned to news as NSW regional director and was appointed as head of community publishing in 2015 working across the Daily and Sunday Telegraph and NewsLocal.

A successor has not yet been announced.

In a note to staff News Corp chairman Michael Miller said Clegg had played an important role across the company since he returned from Fairfax:

Dear colleagues,

Today I accepted, with disappointment, the resignation of Brett Clegg, our managing director community publishing.

As some of you may be aware, Brett has been dealing with a serious illness within his family in recent months and now, with the perspective that a summer break affords, he has decided they need to be his immediate priority.

Brett has been a valued member of the executive team and his contribution will be greatly missed. This has not been an easy decision for him and I respect the path he has chosen.

During his four years with our company, Brett has also lead the strong performance of our NSW division – The Daily and Sunday Telegraph and News Local – and has also held several board roles with our affiliated companies – HiPages, SportTG  and Society One.  He has also contributed to the growth in our digital marketing entity, NewsXtend, and our real estate franchise, working closely with REA group.

In this time, he has always operated with the utmost professionalism and passion for our business, I would like to thank him for everything he has done to drive our business success.

Brett will remain with us for the next few weeks and in the meantime, please join me in wishing he and his family every best wish for the future.

I hope to announce details of his successor in coming weeks.

Regards,
Michael
