Brisbane animators score series with Sesame Street
A Brisbane animation company has tapped major children’s television broadcaster Sesame Street to produce an original short series.
Liquid Animation will deliver series Ziggy the Rapping Zebrasaurus for the US children’s program, aimed to teach pre-schoolers about shapes.
Liquid Animation managing director Steve Viner said: “As a studio that has cut its teeth on producing work for other people, we’re extremely excited to be developing our own story ideas.”
The animation company has in the past created original content for a Disney series called Igutso, Animal Prankster, which is set for worldwide release.
For Ziggy, Viner said: “Each two minute episode represents 600-700 hours of work for local writers, character designers, art directors, animators, compositors, musicians, and producers, so it is a huge investment for us.”
“There aren’t many Australian studios selling to the likes of Disney and Sesame Street, but we’re pleased to be joining the ranks.”
“This achievement takes us a step closer to our dreams of producing a full length feature film out of our Brisbane studio.”
for some reason there’s currently a big pool of very talented people in this particular field in QLD. (pity SQ doesn’t better utilise). Hopefully LA will act as a beacon -show them what can be achieved thru perseverence. Good Luck.
