Brisbane housemate drama The Verge unveiled
Brisbane-based production company Triptych Concepts has created what it claims is Australia’s first web serial.
The Verge features the misadventures of a group of housemates living together and the crazy experiences they share on a day-to-day basis.
Triptych Concepts managing director, Adam Ben Lomsargis described the drama as being “about a house of 20-somethings, living, working, playing, partying and loving every minute of it”.
He added: “We believe The Verge will quickly become a hit with a web savvy demographic and beyond.”
Around 30 production crew and 10 cast members have so far worked on the show.
Triptych Concepts will air The Verge through its own Internet TV channel VideoZoo.tv.
“Most people think YouTube when it comes to online video content, however there is an emerging industry based around professionally produced content explicitly designed to be distributed via the Internet,” Lomsargis said.
Tags they’ve used on YouTube include: promiscuous, sex, threesome, bong, controversial, edgy and hot girls. Not exactly aiming up market are they?
Let’s hope the trailer isn’t a view of things to come. A bit try hard to be funny. But, they have Ian McFadyen on board so maybe he can make it work.

Wow- can’t wait! Bring it on!
If the trailer’s anyhting to go by- it looks like utter tripe.
Don’t call us…
Australia’s first web serial?
lol
What it claims is Australia’s first web serial… umm, The Horizon was a serial that’s already appeared online as well as a reality tv series Surf Camp. Both to be found on samesame.com.au
i always thought sharehousing would be a great basis for a tv series.
this is not what i imagined. the one i imagined was funny.
I made it to 46 seconds. So cheap.
omg it’s random place part 2
anyone remember that one?
“professionally produced content” – someone was PAID for this?
“Australia’s first web serial”
um – first?
really. have they only just had the internet installed?
how bout someone starts aiming for “australia’s best web serial… that i’d like to see”
@pierre, my sentiments exactly. It saddens me that good scripts with believable characters get knocked back for something like this which just feels so…cheap.
Porn music and soft focus. Good on ’em for giving it a good old fashioned go.
Can our share house website claim to be the first “online reality TV serial”??

cheers

haha this is a joke!! I could only last for half of this promo…the acting is painful!! haha
This isn’t ‘Australia’s first web serial’ and even if it was I wouldn’t be too proud of it…
Hrm, it really does look low-budgeted. Well, at least it’s an effort. Maybe they’ll do better in future projects. But this just doesn’t look promising.
This is RUBBISH.
However, so were the early days of flash websites, the early days of banner creative, the early days of online video’s, and the early days of even the motor car.
So, 10/10 for giving it a crack. Hope you get good sponsor and govt. funding to step it up, and then step it up again…
I for one look forward to the day a full production budget mini-series (HBO) is produced and screened exclusively online globally in HD. I’d pay for that content.
I wouldn’t watch this if you paid me with cash or food.
LOL
well it was made in brisbane….
The concepts are good. The acting, directing and execution in general is terrible.
FIRST WEB SERIAL MY ASS!!
Check out The Horizion on Youtube.com/thehorizonseries, it went to air back in Oct last year
Not to mention Random House which aired on Unseen TV back in Feb 2009!

GIRL FRIDAY anybody?
MORDY COOTS
GET WITH THE FRIGGIN TIMES!!!
I know everyone’s claiming it wasn’t the first and citing stuff from last year, but wasn’t there some Coke-sponsored Australian web serial (involving a beach house and a mystery) about 10 years ago?
Wonder how many clicks flatmates.com.au have got out of comment 14? Comment spamming…nice
Its video content like this that gives the industry a bad rep. There are so many good actors out there, and none of them are in this!
wtf? This shit sucks. How can you say that this is professionally produced when it looks like it was shot by first year students. And do you seriously think that it is even a good show, as the script sucks, the actors are bad (the best part is the chicks tits), and the whole concept is a joke. And as for 1st web serial, get real. Seriously… just quit, because you are hurting the Brisbane based practitioners that actually are good.
Totally agree with “I am a real filmmaker”. You all suck.
The Verge had their first screening last night at The Edge!!
Its all very exciting, episode one was fantastic and funny… I can see some really good progress being made! I got to meet all the actors and they are lovely =)
I had such a great night! Thanks Vergens!! haha
@ BEC,
I went to the screening too lol. And yeah totally agree, the first episode is so much better than the pilot! I like how the show is different and not the same american shit you watch on tv everyday, with some fine tuning hopefully the show will be a hit. Apparently they have John Jarratt (wolfe creek) as the voice over??
It’s easy for the detractors to say “its shit etc”, I bet they are very successful in every thing they do…….IT”S AUSTRALIAN…… give it a go !!!
Steve: It’s shit.
etc
I actually went to the edge and thought the first ep
was great! The trailer is nothing like the first episode, they should pull it down and put up the real deal coz I rkn you’ll enjoy it
I saw the pilot last week at a sneak preview and it was SO GOOD!!!! This trailer is not even anything like it now, it was shot months ago and the pilot is totally awesome!
BTW, did anyone else realise that all the hater comments above came from the same three people? It’s a bit of a giveaway when you all have the same email address, just a heads up right there …
Go VERGENS, can’t wait for the launch!!!
