Brisbane radio ratings: Nova loses breakfast as Hit Network grows overall lead

Nova 106.9 has remained in hot water in the latest Brisbane radio ratings, facing hits to its share in both key timeslots as SCA’s Hit Network (B105) crept into the lead in breakfast.

This survey saw the Brisbane radio market remain fairly steady overall, with Hit Network holding strong after knocking Nova from the top spot after almost 12 months in the last survey, this time down 0.1 points on the last book, for a total 13.2%  share of people over 10 in the seventh GfK metro radio ratings survey of 2022.

Despite significant losses in key timeslots, Nova remained in second position overall, losing only 0.4 points on the last book for a total share of 12.7% of people over 10, with the top three rounded out by SCA’s Triple M, down 0.2 points since survey six for a total share of 11%.

ARN’s KISS 97.3 added to its loss of 0.8 points during the last survey, falling a further 1.1 points for a total share of 9.8%, landing it in fourth position overall.

The biggest overall gains were seen by ABC Brisbane, which appears to be slowly regaining some of the share lost by the former breakfast leader in the first half of the year, picking up 1.7 points on the last book for a total 6.6% share.

Looking to breakfast and Nova’s Ash, Luttsy & Susie O’Neill has fallen off the top spot after taking the lead in survey four, dropping 1.1 points on the last book for a timeslot share of 13.0%, while Hit Network’s Stav, Abbey and Matt reclaimed its former lead, picking up 0.3 points for a share of 13.9%.

Triple M’s Breakfast with Marto and Margaux crept into third place for breakfast share on 11.3%, despite a small loss of 0.2 points since last survey, as Breakfast with Laurel Gary and Mark on Nine’s 4BC took a hit of 1.0 point on the last book, for a share of 10.8%. KISS 97.3’s loss the gains it made in survey six, falling 1.4 points to 9.1% of breakfast share, behind ABC Brisbane, which bumped up a hefty 1.8 points on the last book for 9.2%.

To drive and Nova’s Kate, Tim and Joel has fortified its lead adding 1 point on the last book for an impressive share of 16.5%, despite spending much of the last month in the tabloids. On 28 October co-host Kate Ritchie announced to listeners that she would be taking a break from the show for the remainder of the year due to stress, with Rickie Lee Coulter having filled in on the show in Ritchie’s absence, giving rise to tabloid speculation of a more permanent change to the show’s line-up.

Hit Network’s Carrie and Tommy held onto the second place for drive, with 12.8% share, down 1.3 points on the last book. KISS 97.3’s Will and Woody and Triple M’s The Rush Hour with Leisel Jones, Liam & Dobbo took losses of 0.9 and 0.8 points respectively, for a share of 8.9% and 9.4%.

Outside of key timeslots, ABC Brisbane has leapt into the top spot for the evening timeslot, adding a huge 7 points since on the last book for a share of 13%.

The survey ran from Sunday 14 August to Saturday 17 September and Sunday 25 September to Saturday 29 October.
