Dr Mumbo

Brit backpacker mag rubs it in over The Ashes

They’re a brave lot at TNT magazine.

The weekly paper for backpackers – with a predominantly English readership – is sponsoring an open top bus parade through the streets of Sydney on Saturday lunchtime to show off a replica of The Ashes urn.

The TNT Victory Bus will be packed with Barmy Army supporters for the stunt.

TNT boss Martin Lane (who’s also a shareholder in the company that owns Mumbrella) tells Dr Mumbo: “It’s been a great week to be a Pom in Sydney. And I never miss an opportunity to gloat.”

Any Australians wishing to throw rotten fruit at Lane should look out for the bus as it meanders from Woolloomooloo Bay Hotel, across the Harbour Bridge and back, before a slow drive past the Sydney Cricket Ground. The victory lap will then take in a drink at the Coogee Bay Hotel before an inevitable stop at the British stronghold of Bondi Beach.
