British Paints campaign focuses on avoiding time wasters

Dulux Group paint brand British Paints – previously fronted by  entertainer Rolf Harris – has launched a new campaign for its Paint and Prime product.

The campaign, created by Leo Burnett Melbourne, focuses on the time saved by using the product which does not require a separate layer of primer.

The ads feature time wasted by singing Kumbaya around the campfire and talking to boring colleagues about their diets.

The brand was famously fronted by 83-year-old entertainer Rolf Harris in the 1970’s who introduced the firm’s marketing line, “Trust British Paints, sure can” in 1975. Harris returned two years ago to front a campaign for 4 Seasons paint using footage from advertisements filmed 30 years before.

Harris is currently facing serious legal issues in the UK. British Paints announced in April it would no longer work with him, although it said the decision was unrelated to his arrest.
