Bug-hating inventor and ladies man spruiks Suk-a-Bug mozzie-killing device
An inventor who hates bugs is the idea behind a campaign for the Suk-a-Bug Mini, a new device that kills insects.
A short film featuring Nikolai, a ‘renowned inventor and ladies man’, was devised by Melbourne creative studio Yoke and shot by production company Tooth and Claw.
Suk-a-Bug’s Emma Rundle said: “We’ve always wanted to position Suk-a-Bug differently from the other insect solution products on the market. The brand we created is fun and lighthearted so we wanted a campaign that was going to sit well with what we had and I think that the tale of Nikolai’s bug woes does just that.”

Looks like Suk-a-Bug has a few bugs of its own.

Sorry guys, we had a temporary technical bug – which has hopefully now been squashed.
Cheers,
Robin – Mumbrella
Nice idea – the retro Soviet-era naff film.
But a shame it’s written with obvious gags you can see a mile away which don’t deliver on comedy. Food in the face, slap on the head? Sorry. Might have cut it back in the day, but surprise is important to comedy. No surprises here. Needs an edgy writer.

Shouldn’t it finish with ‘FIN’

I’d rather just see it in action to get a feel for how it works.

Yes agree with NJK
Appears to have a huge functional point of difference … big for families and individuals who are looking for ways to reduce chemicals in their homes.
An opportunity missed in my POV

Doesn’t seem anyone can win with the Mumbrella jury (unless they’re a ‘hot’ agency, in which case any crap they produce is passed off as populist genius). If this was a product demo someone would be bagging it for lack of imagination. Yes, some of the gags are as predictable as Tony Abbot’s responses. But it’s a laudable attempt to build a story around a bug zapper.
