Bulldogs win helps Seven to Friday night ratings victory

Seven’s Bulldogs-Swans AFL clash dominated ratings in Melbourne and Adelaide last night.

The game, which saw the Western Bulldogs thrash the Sydney Swans, was most watched TV program in Melbourne where it averaged for Seven a metro audience of 391,000, and in Adelaide where it rated105,000. Taking in regional affiliates too, it rated 635,000 nationally for Seven.

The game also pulled in a further 149,000 metro viewers in Sydney, Brisbane and Perth where it aired on secondary channel 7Mate.

And another 254,000 viewers watched the game on subscription channel Fox Footy, taking the game to an avergae audience of more than a million.

Meanwhile, Nine’s NRL coverage of North Queensland Cowboys vs South Sydney Rabbitohs rated 177,000 in Sydney and 181,000 in Brisbane. With regional affiliates, it got up to 640,000.

It drew a further 158,000 on subscription channel Fox League.

Fox League’s Sydney Roosters vs Manly Sea Eagles rated 165,000, including 104,000 in Sydney.

Meanwhile, the most watched metro program of Friday night was Nine News, which rated 914,000 metro viewers, according to preliminary numbers from OzTam. Seven News rated 872,000.

ABC’s best show was Broadchurch, which rated 606,000.

Ten’s was The Living Room, which rated 502,000.

In the national battle, which includes metro numbers and regional affiliates, Seven News was most watched with 1.4m viewers.

Seven won the night with a 23.2% metro share, well ahead of Nine’s 15.7% and ABC’s 11.3%. Ten was fourth with 10.4%.
