Buzzfeed’s Tahlia Pritchard named new Punkee editor
Junkee Media’s Gen Z title Punkee has appointed Tahlia Pritchard, senior writer at Buzzfeed Australia as the publisher’s new editor.
The publication, which first launched in April last year, had been on the hunt for a new editor – who would report to managing editor Tom Pitney – for more than a month.
Pritchard has been a senior writer at Buzzfeed for the last three years. She was also founder and editor of a Gen Y blog known as Bullsh!t.
On Twitter this afternoon, Pritchard wrote: “So after three crazy years, I’m finishing up at @BuzzfeedOz soon (sad!) and starting as Editor of @itspunkee on May 7th (exciting!)”

In the last month alone, Punkee had reported 728,000 domestic sessions, according to Nielsen’s Marketing Intelligence, 188,000 social followers and more than 24m video views of recaps from The Bachelor, The Bachelorette and Married at First Sight.
Junkee Media publisher, Tim Duggan, said he couldn’t wait to see how Tahlia’s “enthusiasm, ideas and energy” would help Punkee cover more topics.
“Punkee has grown into a huge success since we launched it last June, with hundreds of thousands of people each month getting their daily dose of light-hearted and fun pop culture from Punkee and its social channels,” Duggan said.
“We’ve been searching for a great Editor to join the team and help lead it into its new growth phase, and Tahlia is a hilarious and very talented Editor who will work with Tom and the team to grow it even more.”
Pritchard joins in May.
Wow!
“more than 24m video viewres (sic) of recaps from The Bachelor, The Bachelorette and Married at First Sight.”
Given that the ABS estimates the Australian population at 24,913,628 a few seconds ago, I must be one of the 900,000+ who haven’t watched Buzzfeed’s recaps of these three pieces of content.
And that was just “the last month”. By the time the next month rolls around they should be well over the ABS population estimate.
Methinks someone doesn’t know the difference between viewers and views. Quite sad really.

It’s a typo. Well done for labouring the point that it’s meant to say ‘views’ not ‘viewres’.

@Son of ScoMo for such a pedant, you’d have think you would of noticed that it was Punkee’s recaps not BuzzFeed’s…
