BWS launches ‘Pride’ stores as Mardi Gras approaches
Bottle shop chain BWS has created six ‘Pride’ stores across Sydney in celebration of the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras.
BWS Darlinghurst and Paddington, found at the start and end of the parade route, are wrapped in rainbow paper.
The bottle shop chain has also partnered with Pandora to create a BWS Pride Radio station which will streamed across the stores involved and will also be available to Pandora consumers.
Guy Brent, general manager of BWS, said the initiative is part of Woolworths Group’s 2020 Corporate Strategy commitment.
“As part of Woolworths Group, our 2020 Corporate Strategy commitment is to achieve Gold Tier employer status in Australian Workplace Equality Index for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex inclusion. Creating the BWS ‘Pride’ stores is one of the ways we can broadcast our stance on equality.
“We were initially drawn to Pandora for their brand values and flexibility to curate stations to individual stores. It was a no brainer to evolve our partnership to celebrate Mardi Gras,” he added.
The stores will also have flyers on counter, posters and BWS Pride wristbands available in store on selected products.
The 10 people who use Pandora are going to be stoked!

“It was a no brainer to evolve our partnership to celebrate Mardi Gras.” A frank confession, indeed.

Considering the Darlinghurst shop is feet from the parade I guess that it was a no brainer. Just like all the other stores in the area that added rainbow flags. By Monday they will be all neatly folded away for next year.
Does this mean that all these stores with rainbow flags now have policies that support inclusion of LGBTQI people?
